Peter Parshall, Curator of Old Master Prints, National Gallery of Art, Washington, evaluates whether these assumptions have any historical foundations by examining Albrecht Dürer's famous engraving. This program is in conjunction with The Brilliant Line: Following the Early Modern Engraver, 1480 - 1650 on view at the Museum through June 20.
